Community Corner | Amber and Felix
Amber Cote and Felix Schroeder of Above the Noise, an initiative of Rocky Mountain Public Media, joined SugaBear and La Molly on Community Corner this week. Above the Noise is bringing Coloradans together for meaningful conversation through Everyday Democracy: Stories That Build Us, a four-part film and discussion series running from February through mid-April. Each gathering begins with a short documentary exploring everyday experiences —care, work, belonging, childhood, and access to information—followed by guided small-group conversations designed to encourage listening, curiosity, and mutual understanding. The goal is simple but powerful: create welcoming spaces where people can connect across differences and build stronger, more empathetic communities.
Designed to reflect the voices and realities of local communities, Above the Noise events center dialogue as a form of civic participation. Participants are encouraged to attend the full series, as each event builds on the last, but all are welcome to join for individual gatherings. Upcoming events will take place in Aurora at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library and Aurora Central Library, with films and conversations scheduled from late February through April. Whether you come with a friend, family member, or neighbor, the series offers a chance to slow down, listen, and rediscover the power of face-to-face connection.
