Thank you to those who supported THE DROP 104.7 on Colorado Gives Day!

Due to high winds and fire danger, XCEL Energy is periodically cutting power to our transmitter site on Lookout Mountain. This will result in periodic broadcast outages which will persist until fire danger subsides. Thank you for your understanding and support! You can listen online and on THE DROP 104.7 app.

Kim Salvaggio, CEO of The Center on Colfax, stopped by THE DROP 104.7 to talk about the largest LGBTQ community center in the Rocky Mountain region and what Denver Pride lovers can expect this summer.

The Center on Colfax has been serving the community for 50 years, offering programs like Rainbow Alley for youth, the West of 50 group for LGBTQ elders, 12 free mental health visits with a therapist, transgender support groups, and historical preservation of Denver's LGBTQ history. With a 10% increase in people seeking services, the center's work is more critical than ever.

Denver Pride 2026 looks a little different this year. With Civic Center Park under construction, the festival moves to 16th Street, and the celebration expands from 22 hours of programming to over 100 hours of events throughout the month of June. Starting June 1st, attendees can enjoy events such as Queer Hiking, Tea Dance Neon Nineties, a Smutty Scholastic Book Fair, Bubbles & Boas, a dance festival with Playhouse, and much more! The classic parade takes place June 28th on 17th Street, where our very own SugaBear & La Molly will serve as announcers.

Salvaggio reminded listeners why Pride still matters: There are currently over 500 pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation across the country, and the center believes that showing up together remains one of the most powerful things the community can do.
