Monica The Great
Faith, Art, and Empowerment
Monica The Great is more than a name, it’s a declaration of purpose, resilience, and artistry. Born and raised in Rialto, California, and now rooted in Denver, CO, Monica’s journey is a testament to the power of self-belief and honoring the people who see greatness in us before we see it ourselves. Her stage name, chosen in tribute to a cherished friend who always reminded her of her brilliance, reflects not only her identity but also her mission: to live up to that vision of greatness and inspire others to do the same.

Nakira
Bravery, Openness, and Artistry
A proud Denver native and mother of three, singer, songwriter, and community leader Nakira describes herself as “all things artistic.” Music has always been at the center of her journey. Raised in the church, Nakira grew up surrounded by her family’s rich musical tradition. “There was never a time I can recall where music was not a part of my life,” she said. From church choirs to family jam sessions, those early experiences continue to shape her sound.

Nelo
Love Serves as Motivation
Nelo, whose name is derived from his government name Chinelo means "Thought of God" in Igbo. With a South African mother who grew up during apartheid and a Mississippi-born father who experienced Jim Crow, his background deeply influences his work. "I feel like I'm a melting pot of advocacy," Nelo shared during the interview. "I want to take this artistry and do more with it than just get people to listen to a song, but create community and be inspired to hear it and either want to do for others or do right."

Stay Tuned
Talent, Trust, and Purpose
In the fast-moving world of music, longevity is rare. But Denver’s own Stay Tuned is a shining example of what happens when talent, trust, and purpose collide. For over two decades, this audio-visual hip-hop collective, made up of MCs Ichiban, Mane Rok, and Inkline, along with DJ Awhat, has been creating art rooted in culture and driven by community.

YONNAS
Uncompromised Art
In a city not often recognized for its alt-music scene, Denver’s own YONNAS has quietly been creating a genre all his own — what he calls “dream pop for Black people.” A lifelong artist, YONNAS has evolved from rapping with indie hip-hop groups in his teens to pioneering a soulful, shoegaze-influenced sound rooted in both vulnerability and political consciousness.
